As is always the case, movie studios choose to release new trailers during the Super Bowl. Mainly because it is the most watched event on the planet, a 30 second advert slot this year cost $4.5 million and so it is best to decide which trailers will be shown.
Although there has already been a full trailer released, this new one adds nothing too new to what has already been seen. There is just a ridiculous scene when it seem that Chris Pratt is training Velociraptors to behave. Who’s a good Velociraptor?
Just like with Jurassic World, this new trailer adds nothing further to the plot. Worse than that, the majority of the footage has already been seen. But it still looks awesome when Arnie dive bombs a helicopter.
What’s better than a full on trailer for the new Minions movie? A thirty second clip that, once again, adds nothing to the previous trailer. But it is Super Bowl themed and does provide a few laughs.
The Divergent Series: Insurgent
There was already a full trailer released for this movie in December and in November there was a teaser released. This new trailer tells us even less than the teaser did, and half of the single scene portrayed her can be seen in the main trailer. Although the first film made less of an impact that The Hunger Games did, it seems the second film could follow a to Catching Fire and be about an uprising.
Tomorrowland looks to be a huge film for Disney, especially with not much known about the plot based on Disneyland’s Tomorrowland area. With a lot more information provided than the first trailer, and a setting where nothing is impossible, Brad Bird and George Clooney could have a winner on their hands here.
Pitch Perfect 2
A Super Bowl TV spot that revealed The Green Bay Packers singing Destiny’s Child! It’s hard to top that. With a few jokes, this girls looks ready to pitch-slap the competition away once again.
The Spongebob Movie: Sponge Out of Water
Having made a movie in 2004 where the characters were kept as cartoons, this looks terrible. Is there a general trend happening where all cartoons must now try to take on the world? Pass.
Hot Tub Time Machine 2
Unlike the main trailer, the one joke featured here is not funny & is only used as a way to refer to the Super Bowl. But what do you expect in 15 seconds?
The first film was average and now the second seems to be following the age old plot of proving that a character is real/ has a soul/ becoming human. Though hardly any of the plot is given away (it was last week in the actual trailer), it is funny to see Tom Brady feature here. Two trailers in a week seems a bit excessive though.
50 Shades of Grey
Whilst no doubt as successful as the novels due to the allure of a 90 minute sex filled movie, 50 Shades of Grey looks to be a toned down version that. Thankfully, it appears that no one will be forced to sit through it twice.
The Fast & The Furious films has always been hits and this one seems no different. No trailer from this years Super Bowl tops Vin Diesel flying across buildings in a car whilst Jason Statham shoots grenades at him.
Avenger: Age of Ultron
This must be the film trailer for this movie. By now all of the trailers look the same and, by the time the film is finally released, the scenes featured here could be the most boring part of the film
There was nothing that amazing this year. There’s been no trailer premieres but instead a bunch of revamped trailers that have been out for weeks (even months) already. Why couldn’t they have release Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice or a new Star Wars trailer?
